Some tips to beat the heat wave

"Cool it!" That's the advice going out Wednesday night from the Broome County Health Department, especially to the elderly, and parents of infants and toddlers. That's because they're the ones most likely to suffer from a heat-related illness over the next few days. The guys rebuilding Johnson Avenue on Binghamton's West Side are on a tight schedule. No waiting for cooler weather. But they're not taking chances in this heat. They are taking this advice from Dr. Chris Ryan, Medical Director of the Broome County Health Department. "You should drink lots of water." advises Dr. Ryan. Sports drinks are o.k. too, as long as they don't have too much sugar or caffeine. What else?
